If you’ve been considering covering your own countertops with a patterned liner, here are my top five tips for pulling off a job that will last until you’re able to replace them. Stick contact paper on your door to create an entirely new experience. Use the grid marks to help center the box so that there are equal amounts on each side. Next, lay your box perfectly in the center of the contact paper section and trace around it. Lay it flat in the sun with the pattern up. Use your blade and straight edge to cut out the section. Unroll the contact paper on a clean surface outdoors or indoors near a window. Use a washable marker to write on the frame to create a weekly meal planner, or use the board to make a grocery list. When you’re finished, hang it in your kitchen. Were going to use contact cement to adhere the laminiate, so its best if the mating surface is abraded a bit to give the cement something to grab into. Remove the strips of paper, apply a glue stick to the back and adhere the paper to the box. Crease the top fold of the paper with your fingers. with some spray paint then create a table surface with a slab of wood and marble contact paper. A lot of people call it Contact Paper, but that’s actually a brand, not a material. This will give you 1/2 of paper to fold over each interior side. Cut a piece of paper that will cover the ends of the box so that half the paper rests on the outside and then folds over to the inside. Cut designs from cardboard and cover with contact paper. It’s similar to shelf liner, but made for using on countertops. My budget was super tight, and I couldn’t afford the time or cost of replacing the counters, so I decided to give an adhesive countertop film a try.
